History of Our Divisional Secretariat
Eravur Pattu divisions falling with in the district of Batticaloa and part of Ampara. It is covering a vast area from Thannamunai to Sittandy on Batticaloa to Trinco Road and from Chenkalady Black Bridge to Mangalagama on Badulla Road.
This Division is consisting 204 Villages in 39 Grama Niladhari Divisions and it has the population of 76442 peoples belonging to all 3 Communities namely Tamil, Muslims & Singalese.There are Male 36555 and Female 39887.
The main livelihood of the people are agriculture,cattle,farmer and fishing.Most of the people are living below the poverty line because there consequently affected by natural and unnatural disaster likely Tsunami,Flood and ethnic complex……etc
Divisional Secretariat of Eravur pattu is located at Chenkalady town. 100m off the main road. The Divisional secretariat is comprising more than 150 staffs namely Divisional Secretary, Assistant Divisional secretary,Accountant,Assistant Director of Planning,Administrative Officer,Additional District Registrar,Grama Niladharies, Samurdhi Managers,Management Assistant, Technical officers,Social service officers,Samurdhi Development officers ,Development Officers & office employers.
